López Exits Early With Shoulder Tightness, Set for MRI Wednesday

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts exited Tuesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with right shoulder tightness. Betts exited the game in the bottom of the fourth inning after experiencing the tightness and was replaced by Trayce Thompson in right field. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the game that Betts will have an MRI on his shoulder on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury.
Betts' recent struggles
Betts is batting .269 with seven home runs and 40 RBIs this season but has struggled of late and is just 5-for-33 (.152) in his last nine games. The right fielder has also been dealing with a hip injury that has limited him to just 37 games this season. He missed 11 games in April due to the hip injury and was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 30th with the same issue.
Dodgers Injury Woes Continue
The Dodgers have been hit hard by injuries this season and already have several key players on the injured list, including starting pitchers Walker Buehler and Dustin May. Los Angeles is currently 40-26 on the season, but their lead in the NL West has been cut to just one game over the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers will hope that Bett's injury is not serious and that he can return to the lineup soon. The Dodgers' offense has struggled without Betts in the lineup, so his return would be a big boost for the team.
