Houston Embraces Challenges

New head football coach Mike Houston is eager to kick off his tenure at East Carolina University (ECU) when the Pirates open the season against NC State on Saturday, Aug. 31.

“I’m excited to see our guys compete and to see how we stack up,” Houston said.

Hungry and Ready to Prove Themselves

The Pirates are hungry to show what they can do after going 4-8 last season. Houston has brought in a new coaching staff and several new players, and he believes that the team is ready to take a step forward.

“We’ve got a lot of new faces, but we’ve got a bunch of guys in our locker room that are hungry and ready to prove themselves,” Houston said. “I’m excited to see what they can do.”

Offensive and Defensive Changes

Houston has made a number of changes to both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. On offense, the Pirates will be led by quarterback Holton Ahlers, who is expected to take a big step forward in his sophomore season.

On defense, the Pirates will be led by linebacker Aaron Ramseur, who is one of the best players in the American Athletic Conference. Houston has also brought in a number of new defensive backs, and he believes that the secondary will be a strength of the team.

Ready to Compete

The Pirates have been working hard all offseason, and they are ready to compete for a bowl game this season. Houston believes that the team has the potential to be successful, and he is excited to see what they can accomplish.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do, but I’m excited about the potential of this team,” Houston said. “I think we can be a good football team, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do.”

Conclusion

Houston is a proven winner, and he has a track record of success at the collegiate level. He is confident that he can turn the Pirates into a contender in the American Athletic Conference.

The Pirates have a tough schedule this season, but they are confident that they can compete with anyone on their schedule.
