Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Remaster Coming to Modern Platforms?

Konami Producer Hints at Long-Awaited Re-Release

Konami producer teases the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4 re-release

The question of whether Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will finally be remastered and released on modern platforms has been on the minds of fans for years, and now it seems we may have an answer. Konami producer Noriaki Okamura has hinted that a remaster is in the works, potentially fulfilling the dreams of countless fans.

In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Okamura discussed the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4 remaster, saying, "We've received a lot of requests from fans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to modern platforms." He added that "nothing is decided yet," but the team is "looking into it."

Metal Gear Solid 4 was originally released for the PlayStation 3 in 2008, and at the time was praised for its stunning graphics, innovative gameplay, and gripping story. However, unlike many of its predecessors, it has not been re-released on any other platforms.

If Konami does decide to remaster Metal Gear Solid 4, it will likely be released on current-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It could also be released on PC, as the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection was ported to that platform in 2012.

The prospect of a Metal Gear Solid 4 remaster has excited fans of the series, many of whom have been clamoring for its release for years. It remains to be seen whether Konami will ultimately decide to greenlight the project, but Okamura's comments have certainly given fans hope.
