Gerrit Cole Has Best Start Of Season Yankees Offense Comes Through Late In 4 2 Win Over As In Extra Innings

Gerrit Cole Has Best Start of Season, Yankees' Offense Comes Through Late in 4-2 Win Over A's in Extra Innings

Gerrit Cole Continues Dominance on Mound:

Gerrit Cole delivered another stellar performance on the mound in the Yankees' 4-2 win over the A's in extra innings. Cole pitched eight shutout innings, allowing only four hits and striking out 12 batters. It was his longest outing of the season and lowered his ERA to 1.72.

Cole's impressive start to the season has been a key factor in the Yankees' success. He has now pitched at least six innings in each of his first five starts, allowing only two earned runs in that span.

The Yankees' offense struggled for much of the game against A's starter Paul Blackburn, who pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings. However, the Yankees finally broke through in the 10th inning when Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer off A's reliever Domingo Acevedo.

Yankees Offense Finally Comes Alive:

The Yankees' offense had been struggling in recent games, but they came through when it mattered most in the 10th inning. Judge's homer was his fifth of the season, and it gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

Gio Urshela added to the lead with an RBI single, and Giancarlo Stanton drove in another run with a groundout. The Yankees' bullpen held on to the lead to secure the win.

The win was the Yankees' fourth in a row and improved their record to 18-12. They will face the A's again on Wednesday in the rubber match of the three-game series.
