Krejcikova Siegemund

Highlights from Krejcikova/Siniakova vs. Siegemund/Zvonareva at the WTA Finals

Krejcikova and Siniakova Triumph in WTA Finals Opener

Czech duo dominates in straight sets

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova began their 2023 WTA Finals campaign with a resounding victory over Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva. In a one-sided affair, the Czech pair claimed a 6-2, 6-3 triumph in just 68 minutes.

Krejcikova and Siniakova, the reigning Wimbledon and US Open champions, were in complete control from the outset. They broke Siegemund's serve in the opening game and never looked back, dictating play with their crisp ball-striking and sharp volleys.

The German-Russian duo of Siegemund and Zvonareva offered sporadic resistance but were ultimately outclassed by the superior quality of Krejcikova and Siniakova. The Czechs converted five of their seven break points and saved all three break points they faced.

The victory gives Krejcikova and Siniakova a perfect start to their WTA Finals campaign. They will now face the winner of the match between Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula in their next round-robin match.
