Former Welterweight Contender Calls it a Career

After a TKO Loss to Dilano Taylor, Rory MacDonald has Decided to Retire from MMA

Rory MacDonald, the former UFC welterweight title challenger, has announced his retirement from mixed martial arts. The 33-year-old Canadian made the announcement less than 24 hours after suffering a TKO loss to Dilano Taylor in the 2022 PFL.

MacDonald, who was once considered one of the best welterweights in the world, had a successful career that spanned over a decade. He made his UFC debut in 2010 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning a title shot against Robbie Lawler in 2015. MacDonald lost the fight but went on to win four of his next five fights.

In 2020, MacDonald signed with the PFL and made an immediate impact, winning his first two fights. However, he lost his last two fights, including the TKO loss to Taylor.

MacDonald's retirement is a significant loss for the MMA community. He was a talented fighter who always gave fans exciting fights. He will be remembered as one of the best welterweights of his generation.
